Who are “Semites”? Well, we’ll tell you who they’re not – they’re not a race! They simply
belong to any of the groups of people who speak what is referred to as a Semitic language. The term “Semitic” was coined by German linguist Johann Gottfried Eichhorn (not to be confused with Johann Eichhorn, the German serial killer) in the late 18 th century.
Semitic languages are related languages that are spoken across North and East Africa and the Middle East and are part of a larger family of Afroasiatic languages. The most common still- spoken Semitic languages are Arabic, Amharic (in Ethiopia), Tigrinya (n Ethiopia and Eritrea), Hebrew, Tigre (in Sudan), Aramaic (in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Iraq, and Iran) and Maltese. The most well-known of these groups are those who speak Arabic or Hebrew. Arabic is also the most widely spoken of the Semitic languages, followed by Amharic.
So now you know why Yael and Rasha are “The Bitching Semites.”
